The day I watched the intro scene of Alan Wake, was the time I realized that the game was destined to be a big hit. Alan’s voice has been beautifully dubbed and synched with the game’s dark environment and by the time you get to have a hang of him, you are just lost in the awesomeness of this game.
I mean; look at the details, listen to those sound effects and those highly impressive soundtracks by the end of each chapter. And that’s not all; there are tons and tons of things to explore and to die for in Alan Wake.
The story is about a famous writer “Alan Wake”, who happened to lose his wife to some sort of lunatic Bit**, who doesn’t have a first name. Your journey makes you go through the darkest atmosphere of all things in the town you’re living in. Thanks to your trusty revolver, flashlight and cushy support from you buddy Barry, your license to survival is quite limited.
By this time, I am sure that there is an expansion pack already up for the grabs. It is known as “Alan Wake – The Signal” and you can download it through your Xbox Live Marketplace for a small amount of money. Signal also follows the original storyline. Alan Wake is still the same writer and he has to battle against his wits and mind to come up with something barely sane.
Bu the drawback of the game is you are unable to find any story-related collectibles that are helpful during your quest. The original game included radio spots to listen to, manuscript pages to read, as well as television shows to watch. All these instruments helped a player draw into the world of the game. Unfortunately, none of these optional pieces can be found in this Xbox 360 game.
Anyone who went for the copy of Alan Wake, or its expansion pack, loved it more than anything. The game is worthy of being collected from a long term perspective.
