British Gas Post First Half 2010 Profits Up 98%

London England – Thursday, July 29, 2010 – ShutterVoice – Same old story the consumer as usual is paying over the odds for essential services, water is always overcharged, electricity likewise, and needless to say if British Gas can post records profits up 98% in the first half of 2010, they are overcharging too.

The profits were  £585 Million UK Pounds –  $913 Million US Dollars in only 6 months, which is obscene, what ever happened to the government regulator Ofgem the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets, they as usual have accepted the statement issued by British Gas that the profits are due to a  really cold spell of weather in winter meaning that consumers had to use more gas to keep warm. Quite frankly that statement is not an acceptable answer , the consumers have rights that should be protected by Ofgem. It is about time the regulator did their work and assured that electricity and water was supplied to the public at realistic rates.

‘Same old story the regulator is sleeping while the supplier makes records profits!’
