In yet another display of ‘Whose The Biggest Acquirer of Them All?”, Google managed to secure a deal to provide search related results to Yahoo Japan. The deal also looks upon coming up with related advertising solutions for the Japanese market, through search engine results.
I wonder where it’s going to lead Yahoo to? For now, Google has offered to render its services through Yahoo Japan before the end of this year. Obviously, this gesturer will raise Google’s demand and sooner or later, companies are going to directly contact Google for additional perks. For the right price, Google will definitely submit to their demands but let’s not talk about those things now.
Right now, the deal between Google and Yahoo Japan means that Google’s technology will be responsible for millions of searches that are done through home and office PCs in Japan. According to the latest stream of data gathered from NetRatings, Japan deals with more than 4.3 million search related queries on daily basis.
So what’s in it for Yahoo Japan? Let’s see, Japan’s number 3 cellular provider – Softbank Mobile uses Yahoo as its default mobile Web service. This will also change to make use of Google’s search engine. The deal was struck, in an attempt to overshadow the 2009 agreement between Yahoo and Microsoft, which was of somewhat similar nature.
In fact, it is not the first time when the two companies have closed a deal. Yahoo Japan made use of search engine of Google from 2001 until 2001.
Tuesday’s announcement coincided with the report of Yahoo Japan about financial results of the second quarter. According to the report, net profit increased, now it makes up 12.6 percent. It should be noted that the figure augmented in sales by 4.2 percent.
In reality, due to the deal Google will get further boost for its Japanese operation. Still we don’t know how this deal will end up, but we will keep tracking of it.
