The Consumer Electronics Show or the CES is a consumer electronics event everyone is looking forward to. CES are held on January every year and is a gateway for manufacturers to introduce the public to their latest catalogs.
This year’s CES was held on the 7th till the 10th of January in Las Vegas, Nevada. The highlight for this year’s Consumer Electronics Show is the new arrays of 3-dimensional televisions. Being brought to a success by the famed Avatar, directed by award winning producer James Cameron and many other 3-D movies, the 3-dimensional technology was labeled as the new way to go for home entertainment.
3-D movies are renowned due to its surreal pictures as well as the experience of actually being in the movie itself. However, due to its exorbitant production cost as well as the requirement of having a 3-D glass, the growths of these movies have been mediocre although recently, there has been quite an increase in the number of 3-D movies produced.
In the latest CES event, quite a number of manufacturers came up with their lineup of 3-D televisions. Some notable names include South Korean electronics giant, Samsung, as well as other manufacturers such as Panasonic and Toshiba.
In fact, a complete home entertainment 3-D set will be marketed by Samsung. Products included in the set are a 3-D capable television, a blu-ray player as well as an active shutter glasses for 3-D purposes. However, price tag on this set is still to be announced.
Manufacturers are setting their hopes high for this new revelation. Although they do not expect the technology to be deployed en masse within these few years, they hope to slowly push the technology to consumers like what they did with the blu-ray.
