The other people who have received the same award include Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby and Danny Thomas, who received it posthumously in 2004.  Clooney has also made a mark for himself in terms of a screenwriter, producer, and Oscar-winning director. Similarly, he has joined other humanitarian campaigns, like when he backed then-British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in calling for the release of Burma’s opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Linda, Hope’s daughter pointed out that similar to her own father, George is a person who looks beyond himself for using his celebrity status for good or rather for making a difference in the world as well as for inspiring others to follow the same.
