Regardless of how bad or good Windows 7 phones may be, we thought of letting our readers in on the technical preview of Windows 7 based LG, Samsung and Asus models. Microsoft opened up by saying that they just released thousands of prototypes of their Windows 7 phones, among a select number of testers.
WP7 to Compete with iPhone and Android OS
Let’s face it, Windows & mobile OS wants to play the game for keeps and Microsoft would do anything to put up a fight against Apple and Google. At this moment, RIM is the least of Microsoft’s concerns because the company hasn’t released the Blackberry OS6 or anything of worth yet.
Last week, Microsoft released a beta version of Window 7 OS for smartphone developers. The core ingredients of that OS were:
• People
• Games
• Pictures
• Search Bar
• Music & Video
• Marketplace and Office
WP7′s ‘Extensive Testing’
Microsoft has been emphasizing the solid features of their upcoming smartphones. Moreover, the company jabbed iPhone manufacturers through statements which pointed out that all Windows 7 OS based phones have been extensively tested for signals and proximity sensor errors!
Apart from that the company has tested network connectivity, battery life, usability and also other metrics. It is hoped that users will be satisfied with high quality.
Now it is unknown when Windows Phone 7 models will be available in retail stores, but according to Microsoft it will happen during the holiday season of 2010.
Apart from LG, Asus and Samsung, Microsoft has announced other OEM partners for WP7, such as HP, Dell, HTC, Toshiba as well as Sony Ericsson.
Right now, just like everyone else, we’re hoping that Windows 7 for mobile phones get to see the light of the day. Microsoft has invested billions of dollars on the latest OS for smartphones and no one would like to see this tiny software sinking like the Kin series.
