Last evening I happened to overhear an old man at my local cellphone vendor. The guy was demanding for a Windows OS based smartphone, while the shopkeeper was trying to coax him into buying an Android powered machine. The conversation didn’t go too well and the old fella left the premises with a sneer.
I instantly got convinced to the level of insanity of the old crazy man because Microsoft isn’t exactly the best thing that happened to a smartphone. This brings us to Gates’ counterparts and archrivals – Android powered machines. Let’s take Asus here as an example, the company’s Eee Pads had a debut at the Taipei show few months back.
Needless to say, the devices were really great and with a huge 12 inch touchscreen and Windows 7 OS, users seemed to dig them. However, Asus just announced that they are going to ditch the Windows 7 OS and go for an Android OS instead.
Wanna know why?
Because it is business and Asus is going for something that seems right and profitable. The verdict on upcoming Asus tablets has yet to be known because we didn’t really get the chance of testing those products. However, the migration of Asus from Windows to Asus may result in a cost effective tablet with more flexibility and ease of access for the users out there.
