Search engine giant Google recently announced it will test ultra high-speed internet service on a limited basis with anywhere between 50,000 to half-a-million people to benefit from this extremely fast broadband network. The high-speed internet offered by Google is reportedly more than 100 times faster than what the majority of Americans currently enjoy.
Google has stated it plans to offer the service to a small number of cities around the United States while keeping the cost to the user at a very competitive price. The search engine giant set a deadline of March 26 for accepting applications from interested in communities in its ultra fast internet service.
One city which is interested in getting the high-speed internet service from Google is Greensboro, North Carolina which held a public meeting yesterday to discuss the dynamics and benefits of getting the service. The city staff were interested in getting the opinion of the residents as to why Greensboro needs Google and what are the implications of having the service available in the city.
