Nexus One Will Not Be Sold on Google’s Official Website

Google became widely renowned after the breakthrough release of Nexus One last year. The device enjoyed its good days but now it wont be sold on its official website anymore. The phone will be sold through some small time carriers, such as Vodafone and KT.

The Nexus One was launched back in January and it was more of a showcase smartphone for the very first version of Android OS. The device was developed in collaboration with HTC and it had a 3.7 inch screen size, 1 GHz processor and Android 2.1 OS.

The interesting and the most unique thing about Nexus One was its sales strategy, which was adapted by Google at the time of the device’s launch. The smartphone was only available at its own official website that was being run by Google at that time. Customers had to have a Google login and password to log into their account and place orders for the smartphone.

There was no way that you could have a go with Nexus One at any retailer or local store. The smartphone was delivered to each client with the next 7 to 14 days, in collaboration with T-Mobile or other carriers.

The strategy did pose some risk for Google but somehow it worked and Nexus One became immensely popular. Right now, amidst this ongoing wave of competition, a company cannot afford to opt for the same Google Nexus One sales strategy. No one would bother to go for the device because of the availability factor of other smartphones in the market.

At time of its sale, the Nexus One appeared to be, not only an exclusive smartphone but it was also way too expensive. Still, customers were willing to pay $500+ for Nexus One during the first few months of its peak sales season. Later on, Google reduced the amount of heavy fee and now we hear that Nexus One is being shutdown once and for all. Google just didn’t want to continue with it any more – said a Google spokesman.
