Ninety Nine Nights 2: Cool Animation Sequences and Tons of Enemies

Its time for a hack and slash review of the famous game by Konami: Ninety Nine Nights 2! The good part about this game is that it is similar to Dynasty Warrior series, and you know exactly what that means. There are going to be tons and tons of enemies and really cool animation sequences that help you maintain your sanity level, while the game rolls forward.

Why do people hate N3 2 so much? Duh… I don’t know, take a look at:

• Lame and repetitive combat sequences
• Same old animations where enemy characters walk or run towards you
• Save points/ checkpoints are so far away that it is sometimes impossible to make it in one shot
• The story has been poorly narrated

I had the chance of playing Dynasty Warriors series a couple of years back. It was good in a sense that I just had to press one button and wade across millions of enemies to the other checkpoint. Whenever I got low on health, I used to kill one of those “Rice Dumpling” guys for a health upgrade.

Speaking of which, N3 2 is the same tedious experience, but with improved graphics. The narrator lets you in on the story that takes you through the “distant kingdom” where a noble warrior “Gallan” took out hordes of enemies single handedly. The kingdom has been overtaken by the Dark Lord of the Night and it happens to be your 92nd day in the game.

Your main objective is to make your way through 5 playable characters, to the Dark Lord before he reaches the 99th day of his destructive charade-parade thing. The battle sequences in N3 2 are not that good. Just like Prince of Persia – The Forgotten Sands, enemies keep standing around you, waiting for their turn, to be hacked and slashed into million bits and pieces.

If I recall correctly, I spoke about the immersive graphics of N3 2. As a matter of fact, the improved graphics of Xbox 360 are something that Microsoft holds pride in. the blood of your fallen enemies just splatters and drips on the ground. There are massive flourishing environments that will just bedazzle you through their details.

The most interesting mode of N3 2 is the co-op mode. The sequences in two player mode initiate in a competitive form, where you have to kill thousands of enemies and make your way to the end level, through a massive maze. The first person with most kills in minimum amount of time wins the game.

If you are ready to struggle against tons of enemies, then no doubts you will go through all the levels of Ninety Nine Nights 2 with interest.
