Mobile Firms Unite Together Offering Single Apps Platform

Wholesale Applications CommunityA group of mobile operators 24 in number launched an alliance to build a single or a common platform for the hugely popular applications that allow users to play games and read news on their handsets.

The motto of the group is to unite a “fragmented marketplace” and give developers a good chance to develop applications with single direction ahead.

The alliance launched by the 24 operators is named the Wholesale Applications Community and backed by the GSMA and major mobile manufacturers.

The group includes AT&T, Vodafone and China Mobile, which has three billion customers around the world. Major companies like Samsung have shown their desire to expand its application market by opening stores in more than 50 countries.

The other partners in this mega project include Orange, Deutsche Telekom and NTT Docomo.

Hence this joint venture by the mobile firms to work on a single apps platform will benefit the users and developers on the whole.
