Adobe Systems has joined the LiMo Foundation, a group devoted to putting Linux on mobile. Surely, Adobe has succumbed to pressure by the competition from future technologies like HTML5.
Since YouTube announced its support for HTML5 by ditching Flash, Adobe has made sincere efforts in spreading Flash in all possible ways.
With loads of handful smart phones in the market, Adobe has constantly tried to establish itself in the mobile market with a renewed version of Flash Player 10.1 due to release in June 2010.
The major concern of Adobe is that Flash is absent in major devices like Apple iPhone and Apple iPad.
By joining LiMo, Adobe has put a small foot in the mobile market.
LiMo members include LG Electronics, NEC, NTT Docomo, Orange, Panasonic, Samsung, SK Telecom, Telefonica, Vodafone, and Verizon Wireless. This definitely would boost the Flash Player’s popularity.
Adobe has also said that its Adobe Creative Suite which includes authoring tools for Flash will be able to create Flash programs for LiMo devices, a move that would simplify building Flash into those devices.
