The US market for mobile phones has been growing in recent years and the competition keeps getting tougher as the bigger companies attempt to deal a blow to their competitors.
Sprint is the third largest wireless company in the United States and despite recent years highlighted by the loss of customers and various complaints, the company is showing signs of improvement in more than one way. With many AT&T customers complaining from dropped calls while Verizon users have had issues with the company since it does not use GSM which is used by around 3 billion people worldwide. Sprint also does not use GSM and relies on CDMA like Verizon Wireless, but what is helping Sprint is the fact it has a functioning 4G network, a reliable network and is considered to have one of the best 3G signals in and around metropolitan areas in the United States.
One other added bonus is the better rates it offers customers as opposed to the more expensive Verizon Wireless and AT&T. The improvements to the network and services offered by Sprint has seen the company lose 148,000 customers in the last quarter of 2009 as opposed to a staggering 1.3 million users who left the network in the final quarter of 2008. This is a considerable difference considering the period under discussion is no more than 12 months.
