With the right kind of monetary incentives, Americans are supposed to prefer smaller cars at a notched up fuel efficiency system. Consumers just snapped up the old models of Honda Civic and Ford Focus. Same thing was done last summer when the gas prices soared up, all thanks to the $4500 rebates from federal government.
According to our “economic experts”, sooner or later, the economy is going to “stabilize” and gas prices are going to drop; it’d be a perfect season for Americans to turn to their original roots – i.e. big family cars and sport utility vehicles.
Currently, gasoline price is hitched somewhere between $2 and $3 and still, American folks prefer small cars. Consumers don’t have a choice; because automakers already plan vehicle manufacturing 3 to 4 years ahead. Since 2005, fuel prices have been marching towards the skies. So obviously, car manufacturers, such as; Kia, Toyota and Honda, have been developing smaller models. That being said, right now GM and Ford have 3 mini car models that are supposed to be out by the end of 2010.
Decades ago, GM was considered among the founding fathers of huge and bulky cars; the type that Americans still love to ride and make hay with. But the market trend and gas price has made companies fall back to the introduction of safety equipments, cushy seats, air balloons and creature comforts – all that in hopes of making their clients believe that “Yes, Small cars are not unsafe”. You can and SHOULD buy them, otherwise car manufacturers are going to end up in megalosses!
