With the Apple “Find my iPhone” service in the market and a hit with the users, all the other major smartphone makers have been trying frantically to match up and counter this new service by Apple. So, now the Blackberry has jumped into the spotlight with their version of “Find My iPhone” service. The new service by the Blackberry will be called as Shield.
Blackberry makers have been trying to introduce such kind of Application that will reduce the risk of losing your phone and in the scenario of the phone loss will help the customers to just log-in in the resident service and track their phone. The screenshots of the service has been released and according to the BBNews it has numerous features just like Apple’s “Find my iPhone” service has in it. The service will allow tracking of the lost handsets through Google Maps and will also provide the users with the capability of remotely wiping the data in their devices. The service will also allow the users to send custom lost and found type of messages which they can send to their lost phones. Moreover, it will also have the provision to apply remote passwords and also to cause a ringer alarm if the Blackberry is nearby.
The public testing of the service will be coming soon and it is also believed that Shield will also restore and backup the device on a periodical basis enabling it to be more in conjunction with the user requirement. The service is likely to be free of cost for those who have their Blackberry internet services enabled on their respective devices.
Although, Blackberry has a better remote management options but a lack of cloud-based services has been the point lacking in RIM realms.
With the Shield service in the market, the Blackberry users will now have a sigh of relief as far as the problems of stolen devices and information getting misused is considered. The thing to wait for is the services of these kinds by other developers and when they will hit the market.
