If you’re thinking that motion detection technology, such as “Kinect” or “Move”, was a result of inspiration that Microsoft and Sony caught from Wii; then maybe you are right. BUT, there is a big controversy behind these projects.
Last week, I was reading an article about the future prospects of next gen consoles, like; PS4 and Xbox 720. To put everything in a nutshell, the only reasons Microsoft and Sony are not releasing the 4th gen of their consoles, is because of tough economic times, downsized value of Euro and the degree of profit margin on per unit sales of each console.
Hence, Microsoft and Sony developed their motion detection games in order to lure gamers towards this category. Sooner or later, the two companies will be releasing the next gen consoles, therefore; players are being mentally prepared for them.
Anyways, moving on to Nintendo Wii and its special titles, such as; The Mario Bros franchise makes me think of Xbox 360 and Sony exclusives. Games, falling under the Kinect Adventures tagline will be attracting not only casual gamers, but pure hardcore gamers who would love to pursue each Kinect game title equally.
Most of us haven’t been able to lay their hands on any Kinect or Move games but it is being said that Microsoft and Sony are following Nintendo Wii’s strategy, in order to create appealing and exclusive games which will contain some really cool stuff.
