Verizon Wireless: To add Skype to smartphones?
Wireless carrier Verizon is apparently willing to allow Skype on its smartphone devices after the recent agreement by AT&T to allow Skype’s app on the iPhone.
AT&T has exclusive rights to Apple’s iPhone and was originally opposed to having Skype on its devices. Now that AT&T has accepted Skype, Verizon Wireless might be feeling the need to respond to its main competitor’s move. Verizon trails behind AT&T due to its older system which does not have GSM capability.
Verizon and Skype are expected to issue a joint statement at a conference in Spain in the next several days.
