Apple had filed a lawsuit against the HTC Corporation concerning the patent claims. According to the lawsuit, Apple is suing HTC for the two patents which are mentioned in the original complaints and another two more anonymous patents that were not mentioned in the previous claims.
The new lawsuits are concerned with the adaptation of the UI to a real time display. It also includes patents of the slide to unlock motion and the processors’ power management. Many people believe that Apple filed the lawsuit against HTC because it wants to prevent the Google android from expanding further in the market.
HTC had countersued by pointing out that Apple has committed a violation in section 337 of Tariff Act 1930. HTC accused Apple for selling a selection of portable electronic device that causes copyright problem. The ITC investigation in Apple will lasts for 45 days.
Apple is one of the largest online music stores. The iTunes store accounts for more than 70% of music sales on the internet. Apple is currently involved in the early stages of Department of Justice antitrust investigation.
Many people have suggested that Apple made exaggerated claims about its products. For example, Apple states that the graphic display has a pixel density that is higher 4 times compare with the previous models.
Recently, Apple announced the availability of a video conferencing feature in iPhone 4. Though the feature is common in standard phones, Apple conducted the demonstrations as if it is something unique that is not available to the public before.
HTC is the manufacturer that creates most of the successful android phones including Evo 4G, and Nexus One. HTC has also submitted complains about Apple. It is likely that HTC will have to settle for a large sum of money in order to dismiss the case.
