SMobile Systems has made a report concerning the threat of Android app. According to the Android market threat report, most of the android apps that are available in the market allow a third party application to scan the system.
It is unsafe for the third party application to scan the system because it exposes your sensitive information to hackers. Some of the apps can automatically make a call and send SMS text without informing the owner of the phone. For example, some apps allow you to schedule a call to any number. There are also a number of apps that allow you to schedule the time for sending the SMS messages to premium members.
SMobile did not claimed that all the apps are dangerous but that it increases the risks posed in the mobile phone users. Users are advised to find out what the apps will do before downloading them.
According to Dan Hoffman, many apps contain the same type of access as the malicious spywares. The apps can have access to the emails and SMS messages in your inbox. Dan said that there many such spywares that are in the market place and it is becoming a serious problem.
A representative spokesman for Google had denied the claims. The Google spokesman stated that the users cannot control which apps to access the sensitive information. He also stated that the apps must get permission from users before it can access the important information.
In addition, the developers are required to perform the billing background checks so that their real identities are not hidden. If the identity of the developer is suspicious, Google will delete their app. The problem is that most of the users don’t know which app to allow. As a result, it opens a door for the malicious app to have access to the sensitive information.
