Apple Reveals Safari 5 in WWDC – Download Available

Apple has now officially announced its latest web browser Safari 5. Apple Safari 5 is now available for Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard and PCs running Windows. Announcing this amidst a lot of other big products, Apple has made significant performance and rendering upgrades to its web browser.

In terms of features, it adds Microsoft Bing as a search option, though Google, the search giant, remains the default option. However this option can be changed through the Preferences in Settings. But the disappointing thing is that there is no way to customize the list of search engines.

Safari 5 main feature includes Safari Reader. The main functionality of the reader is to provide an easy reading experience by clubbing and splitting only the important text on a web page. You can then print, reformat to your requirements, reedit and then save it in formats like PDF and finally can email as well.

Another important feature includes the Nitro JavaScript Engine which is considered to be twice faster than Firefox 3.6 and three percent faster than Google Chrome 5. Full featured support for HTML5 playback including full screen video playback and geo location support.

Apple has also made the app and plugin development more secure by putting a requirement of Digital Signature by the developer is a must.
