The recent oil spill calamity in the Gulf is the result of mechanical fault, the US Congressional investigators are predicting after a primary inspection of the whole incident. The mechanism, called Blow Out Prevented which is a set of controlled valves that prevents automatic blow out of oils stored due to any accident was faulty and the battery associated with its working didn’t back it up to use the valves from opening. As a result the recent disaster of Oil leak took place in a widespread area of Gulf, taking eleven lives instantly and others are waiting in the list as the result of over 15 million liter oil spread on the Gulf till now and counting.
To compensate the damage caused by the debacle US Administration is taking positive steps to fund the rescue act with economical help and to prevent it spreading in more areas. US President Barak Obama proposed a new legislation of $ 188 million in the emergency especially for the compensation of this crisis, of which he requested immediate $100 million for the coast guards and $29m to the Secretary of the Interior for inspections, enforcement and studies related to this problem. Barak Obama clarified that they are doing everything in their power that should be done to stop this disaster.
The oil is spreading fast despite the tries of the USA Coast Guard and appointed technician team to stop it from happening. Climate bills, Funds and new legislation are being acted but that is not sufficient to stop the disaster from happening. Apart from the Gulf area the oil is predicted to spread in the Wildlife areas near Venice and Chandeleur Islands only increasing the amount of damage from several hundred millions to several thousand millions unless stopped son.
We are hoping that the oil spread will stop very soon and the possible damage will be minimized.
