Some Gmail users are believed to have experienced difficulties while trying to access their e-mail accounts on Tuesday, owing to a “Server 502 error” that reportedly caused trouble.
Although a vast majority of the users were able to access their e-mail without any issues, those who experienced this had to re-login after half-a-minute.
The company said on its Apps Status Dashboard: “We’re aware of a problem with Google Mail affecting a significant subset of users. The affected users are unable to access Google Mail. We will provide an update by May 11, 2010 11:45:00 AM UTC+5:30 detailing when we expect to resolve the problem. Please note that this resolution time is an estimate and may change.”
The ease of use of the e-mail service has seen some users re-route their company e-mail to Google Mail, which could have caused potentially trying circumstances for any such users who may have been affected by the login problem.
But Google followed up with an update that also contained an apology to users who had experienced problems accessing their e-mail.
The update read: “The problem with Google Mail should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.”
