The problems with high end DSLR are that they are bulky and difficult along, unlike the small point and shoot digital cameras which can be easily carried in pocket also. But what if we get a super quality Digital SLR in the dimension of a small digital camera, which will increase its usability. Sony unwrapped two new models NEX-5 and NEX-3 for exactly the purpose said above, they are smaller in any of the current DSLR and the lens are interchangeable, makes it perfect companion for any photographer to carry along anywhere.
NEX-5 is the better version with sharper quality and full HD recording than the NEX-3; specifically the NEX-5 can record HD clarity video in 1080i industry with standard AVCHD codec where NEX-3 is only capable of 720p recording that also with MP4 codec. Both have some slight change in design and shutter speed also. But both cameras are equipped with such a huge image sensor that can leave behind any current HD recording capable DSLR cameras.
The main facility of these cameras is the detachable lens, they offer a new technology called ‘E-mount’ to change and adjust the lens with unique UI. Three individually usable lenses have been announced so far, 16 mm lens with f/2.8 focusing that comes in $249.99 price tag, the 18-55mm f3.5-f5.6 lens with variable specs that will cost $299 and the most advanced 18-200 mm lens with a larger price tag of $800 that is expected to arrive this fall. The lenses are even capable of taking 3D images in MP0 format standard that can be played in 3D HDTV monitors directly. The User Interface is rich with easy navigation, versatile help menu and support for the newbie.
The NEX-5 will come in Silver & Black for the charge of $649-$699 and NEX-3 is available in Red shade in the price tag of $549-$599, depending upon the lens they ships with. Both are expected to launch full scale in market around June 2010.
