RIM which is the manufacturer of popular BlackBerry devices is working diligently on the newer version of the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS 3.0). There is no official word on the release date for the BIS 3.0 or the updates offered. Still, there have been some leaks in the media and the reports claim the BIS 3.0 will be released in Europe and North America on March  6 and 21 of this year respectively.

Interestingly  before the new version is released there is speculation about an even newer version BIS 3.4 which will serve as another update in the near future. The new BIS 3.0 version will give support for more attachments such as OpenDocument presentations and spreadsheets (known as .odp and .ods respectively). There are a number of other news features such as the ability to create and delete labels on a device with Enhanced Google Mail Plug-in and BlackBerry OS 4.6 or higher.
