The thing about Google and link building is that it is best to make the links not only relevant to the website being linked to but to build it over a long period of time. Think of the search engine as human editors. That is how advanced Google has made them to be.
Build links not within a short period of time but instead, try to build them slowly and over a long period of time. It doesn’t have to be 1000 at one shot but spread it across a week or even across the month. This will not cause the site to have a red flag on top of it but lets it stay under the radar.
In addition to that, rather than building links through directory submission, try to build links out of blog commenting or forum posts. These are often picked up by Google faster as compared with the latter.
Building links is a continuous effort and it takes a lot of time in the long run. Dedicate at least 15-30 minutes a day on building links and in the long run, the website will have tons of them.
