ABI Research reported that in the fourth quarters of the year 2009 there was a boom in smartphone market.

Smartphones and Cell phones has a good market in the fourth quarters as it is holiday, people purchase Droid or shiny iPhones as gifts, because it is an indication of overall recovery.

Compared to third quarter the fourth quarter had a 25% growth, the third quarter had only 3.6% growth compared to the second.

ABI said that Nokia and Research In Motion had a strong showing quarter when Apple retained its cold quarter with the cool factor.

During the quarter about 21 million smartphones were shipped by Nokia from 15 to the 16 million, when considering the long term growth it faces problems because of its smaller presence in United States.

Smartphone has the leading market in United States, said Michael Morgan, an analyst in the prepared statement.
