Twitter may be blocked in Venezuela
In an attempt to pacify the people who are not in the agreement with the government, the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, mentioned that the government will soon play an active role in blocking, monitoring as well as criminally charging websites that are not in unison with the Venezuelan government.
One of the websites that are being considered are Twitter as well as Facebook. These two websites were said to be giving out false statements and is a base for anti-government groups to rally up people and potentially give harm to the public.
The President also claimed that a Venezuelan news site also posted a false claim saying that a senior government official has been assassinated. It took almost two days for the post to be retracted and the government said that the time frame was too long and was potentially dangerous as well.
There are also websites that are calling for coup d’état which is very dangerous for even any government. Hugo Chavez said that it is time for the government to act before it is too late.
