YouTube Movie Rental Experiment Yields Little

YouTube recently announced it will be entering the move rental service via a deal with Sundance Film Festival covering five movies.

Figures were released regarding the income generated from the first 10 days and the figure seems to be just under $11,000 dollars which is not a very impressive number given each film cost $3.99 which means close to 2,700 movies were viewed.

While the media claimed this was a defeat for YouTube, the company reported this exceeded its expectation and some might argue these movies are just for a limited audience. YouTube still aims to release more movies for rental in the near future.
