Google Reader Play Launched – RSS Newsfeeds at your Fingertips

The search-engine giant Google on Wednesday released a trial tool for Web browsing called Google Reader Player. It helps in browsing content of new feed in Google Reader. It could be considered as a Web based content aggregator.

It gathers RSS news feeds for online and offline reading. It is necessary to have Google Reader account to get its customised benefits, though not mandatory.

Google Reader Play contains range of photos, blog spots and popular videos based on features selected from the ‘Recommended Items’ of Google Reader. These items are shown as visual slideshow like Google Fast Flip, a visual newsreader of Google.

It can be said that the Play is actually based on filmstrip navigation bar found at the screen’s bottom.

Having a Google account but not using Google Reader will not obstruct Play stream,it just makes  it extra personalized.

The 2 ways to use Play are either visiting Google.com/reader/play or selecting ‘View in Reader Play’ found in Google Reader’s menu of feed settings.
