Apple sticks to AT&T for the iPad

File:Apple-logo.pngApple Inc. announced wireless carrier AT&T will provide service for the iPad tablet in a move which will clearly disappointVerizon Wireless. The AT&T coverage and network strength has been under criticism lately for not being able to handle the iPhone’s.

AT&T was chosen because of its use of the GSM system which stands for Global System for Mobile Communications. Verizon Wireless does not use such a system and Apple apparently feels Verizon will need to do some upgrading to its infrastructure before being able to handle the iPad.

AT&T will be expected to improve its systems and this is why Apple chose the company for the iPad service.
