Filter to Rein in Phishing Attacks added by Twitter
Security procedures have been tightly harnessed by Twitter to curb phishing attacks against users of the micro-blogging service.
The phishing attacks became significantly rampant over the recent weeks.
Users get invited by bogus messages to log into counterfeit Twitter websites and eventually they give out login credentials during the same.

Malware attacks and social networking spam increased 70 percent last year, according to reports with the prime targets for Web 2.0 spammers being Twitter and Facebook.
These kinds of attacks are not grave just for reasons of nuisance and the potential embarrassment caused on Twitter. Users tend to reuse login credentials on more sensitive online banking accounts and webmail as well, which ultimately are left exposed to attack in the event of micro-blogging passwords getting compromised.
