Virtual Shop for Business Software Opened by Google at Apps Marketplace
An online shop solely for business software was hosted as services in the Internet “cloud” by Google.
According to Chris Vander Mey, marketplace product manager, the Google Apps Marketplace launched with offerings from over fifty companies; the Intuit online payroll program for small businesses one among them.
Google website reported that the new online store for integrated business applications launched with the intention to make it easier and simple for users and software providers to do business in the internet cloud
The cloud programs are basically hosted on the web, doing away with the need for people to purchase, install and thus maintain the software
The applications that are featured at Apps Marketplace are in sync with programs in the application suite offered online by Google.
In a span of three years, over 2 million businesses have begun using Google Apps
Google applications are a formidable challenge to the software programs sold by arch-rival Microsoft which credits most of its money to profits procured from licensing and selling software installed on users’ computers.
