Wireless Verizon: Verizon Kills Mail-in rebates for Palm Phones
A new move by the wireless company Verizon is the removal of its mail-in rebate schemes for both of its Palm phones which are the Palm Pre and Pixi Plus. However, customers will now get instant online rebates for both of these smartphones by Palm.
The new move is due to the expectation of the online customers that want instant rebates instead of having to mail-in to get these rebates. A Verizon representative said that this was the feedback received by the company’s customers and since it is a highly competitive market, Verizon decided to heed the call of its customers and give instant online rebates.
Mail-in rebates have often been highly controversial issue. Previously in 2005, BusinessWeek discovered that more than 40% of the mail-in rebates go unreturned. In fact, a few companies such as BestBuy decided to remove its entire mail-in rebates program a few years ago.
