iPod sales continue to fall

iPodApple earlier had announced a record $15.7 billion in revenue in the quarter ending December 31 mainly as a result of the record increase in iPhone sales which grew 100% from the previous year.

However the iPod sales are continuing to slump despite Apple’s attempt to revive the market by dropping the cost of each iPod unit. In September 2009, the cost of an iPod was dropped but the quarter ending December 31 still saw a decrease of 8% in sales.

Apple Inc. still sold a decent 21 million iPods in the final quarter of last year. One of the main reasons behind the constant fall in sales of the iPod is due to the fact the MP3 player market has become quite saturated.
