How to Set Up a Record Label – The First Release
The first thing that the record label owner should do regarding the first release is to choose a tentative release date on which the record label will be releasing their 
first release. If the record label is going for an exclusive digital distribution then it does not have to be concerned about stuff like the time taken to manufacture the records. There are certain factors that decide that the record label will be able to release its first record on the tentative release date or there will be a delay in the release.
The approval for the artwork of the album to be launched by the record label can sometimes be a hurdle in the timely release of the album. If the artist does not like the artwork produced then it might take much longer to produce the artwork that would satisfy the artist and hence ultimately it will put a delay in the release of the album on the tentative release date. So it is better to make the artwork ready before hand so that the release of the album does not have to suffer just because of its artwork.
The manufacturing time can also lead to some delays in the releasing of the album. Suppose that there is some technical fault in the manufacture unit and they are not able to produce the required amount of records in time. This would lead to major problems and the record label will not be able to release the album on the release date. Hence the release of the album will have to be delayed forcibly. So the record label should make sure that the manufacturing process is doing fine and must get updates from time to time. Keeping in mind these precautions, the first release can be a huge success for the record label.
