Google trying to have contract-free Nexus One

Google released the Nexus One earlier this January with the pricing set at around $179 with a two-year contract with T-Mobile. In the upcoming weeks, Verizon Wireless will reportedly carry the Nexus One phone.

The search giant is trying its hand in the mobile phone and devices market but has appeared uneasy about the restrictions imposed by mobile carriers on their customers. Google seeks to find a way to have users buy the Nexus One without having to sign a binding two-year contract with any specific mobile carrier.
