After Hewlett-Packard purchased Palm, the main focus of the company was offering the webOS operating system to non-handset devices, such as tablets as well as printers.
But it was revealed at a recent conference by Eric Cador, HP’s senior VP that new mobile devices based on webOS will come under the HP brand and will be available on the market in the first quarter of 2011. Moreover, it was added that with a combination of Palm’s software and HP’s hardware, new handsets will be able to compete with other mobile devices.
Currently, the company is working on the webOS operating system in order to move it to the next level by means providing multitasking.
It looks like one of HP’s partners decided to not wait for a long time and let the cat out of the bag. According to recent reports, the Palm Pre 2 will appear on the market. It is expected that the handset will be available for the holidays on the European and probably U.S. markets.
An SFR company blog suggests that the Palm Pre 2 will be enabled with better processor. It will be based on the new version of webOS. The mobile device will also pack 512 of RAM.
As the handset was not announced officially, we will have to wait for the confirmation.
