This conclusion was drawn by Iowa State University Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Craig Anderson. His objective was to study how violent video game play influences behavior of kids.
The reports were published in the March 2010 issue of the Psychological Bulletin. It says that exposure to violent video games is a risk factor for increased the possibility of aggressive thoughts and attitude as well as reduced empathy and social behavior in youths, both on a short term and long term basis.
The study proves that the impacts of violent video games are prevalent in both Western and Eastern cultures, in both the sexes and among all age groups. The researchers conclude that the results obtained has important implications for public policy debates, inclusive of development and testing of potential intervention strategies created to minimize the harmful impacts of playing violent video games.
