Twitter and Facebook both witnessed a growth in triple digits on mobile Web while MySpace bowed down to its social networking rivals among users of mobile phones last year.
Facebook audience in the US on the mobile Web doubled to 25.1 million in January 2010 than a year ago.
The growth of Twitter was fourfold, reaching a 4.7 million, according to reports from comScore.
Whereas the mobile Web audience of MySpace reduced to 11.4 million, a 7 percent decline during the same period.
A majority of the growth has been triggered by the explosion in the number of smartphone users. Around 30.8% (22.5% last year) of smartphone users visited social sites on the mobile Web. Only 7% of regular users of mobile phones went to a social site.
According to Mark Donovan, senior vice president of comScore, social networking continues to be one among the fastest-growing and most popular behaviors on both the mobile Web and PC-based Internet.
