In its long line of Beta releases, Mozilla released the 5th beta version of Firefox 4. Last Tuesday, we tried this version and noticed some major changes. The browser is still lined up for release, which is probably expected in November but I hope that Mozilla doesn’t release any more Betas.
The Beta 5 has new audio and graphics compatibilities, a little bit of support for the Direct 2D sound modes and the option for turning HDR On or Off. Apart from the visual gimmickry, the browser poses a nice treat for developers, who are knee deep into web graphics.
However, there is a small limitation here. If those web developers are to develop pages that are only capable of running on Firefox 4, then the effort will be somehow useless. A huge population of people out there uses Chrome, Explorer and Safari – they will be disappointed.
Anyway, developers are now able to write JavaScript programs that entertain the changers in audio data feeds. The graphics capabilities are equally interesting; Windows users can notice a speedy performance of content display on their screens. Graphically intense websites load up easily and people are already enjoying this option.
