Bone Strengthening Drugs to Lead to a High Degree of Esophageal Cancer

People who are in the habit of taking lot of bone strengthening drugs and supplements, are headed towards a high degree of esophageal cancer.

 Bone-Strengthening-Drugs Several studies indicate that bone strengthening drugs cause throat cancer. But on the other hand, the same database was used for another study and it was found out that there was no link between such drugs and throat cancer. This study was published in the American Medical Association Journal last week.

Authors of the new study believe that their 8 years of research have verified over 3,000 cases of people with esophageal cancer. Ninety of the cancer patients and 345 in the comparison group had been prescribed bone building pills called Bisphosphonates. These drugs are sold under the names of;

• Fosamax
• Actonel
• Boniva

The controversial study supports a weak concept of throat cancer. Because in normal cases, only 1 in 1000 cases show positive confirmatory results. Apart from throat cancer patients, 10,000 cases of bowel cancer were also analyzed. It was found that there was no increased level of risk connecting to Bisphosphonates and cancer.
