The European director of Facebook, Colm Long, has spoken out in an effort to raise the awareness of business owners to take their efforts onto the web.
The Internet has practically turned into a country of it’s own in recent years, with the passport being a computer, and a visa being the “Internet connection”.
With millions and millions of people having gained access to the web, and with several businesses having already crossed the borders of real life to woo the virtual world, Long has called on the rest of the pack to join in and capitalise on the market, whilst promoting the social networking in the process.
“Facebook pages help to get your business visible online for free,” he said, according to The Sunday Business Post.
“They lower the ‘barrier to entry’ for marketing and selling products online, starting with fan pages for a business.
“I’d also recommend that small firms try out some ads on our site that are cost-effective, and can be designed to reach people in a certain geographic area – or for a certain age bracket or with particular interests.
“There are also loads of free tools available online to promote your business, such as great tracking tools that allow you to measure every euro spent and see where your customers are coming from. With search engines like Google, you can optimise your web presence without spending a fortune.”
