“We want to be one of the leaders”. Do you know who said that? A 13 year old Chief Marketing Executive of HTC!
Story has it that HTC used to be one of the unknown Japanese producers for giant U.S. carriers, such as Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. The company supplies items in bulks, to a country that doesn’t know the first thing about the Japanese manufacturer.
Just like HTC, the rest of the companies in East Asia have to face the same thing. Out of 10 people in the U.S., only 1% of them know about such companies, which is kind of itchy if you look at things from the Japanese perspective.
The only reason, we’ve heard about HTC was because of their ad campaigns during super bowl and other sports channels world series. At least for HTC, the good news is that now 40% of the American population knows its name. That’s somewhat better I think, but HTC wants more.
The Japanese manufacture has made it clear about competing against Apple. The campaign has been going on for 3 years now. Seth Wallis Jones – an analyst for HIS Global Insight said that HTC is positioning itself dramatically against the increasing perception of Apple. Both companies know that HTC is slowly gaining the role of a dominator.
The company’s C.M.O said that HTC is working on introducing something new. We can expect those HTC guys to develop their own technology somewhere in 2011.
