Ryan Abood – Turns $4 Million Google Loss into a Profit

Ryan Abood is used to working over 100 hours a week on his website GourmetGiftBaskets.com and the site was doing well as the third largest player in its  niche.

Then one morning he woke up and went to check the site on the Google Search Engine to find the site was nowhere to be seen in the first thousand indexed for keywords that he had promoted for the site. This was a crisis as traffic coming from Google was bringing in 80 per cent of the site revenue. Google judged that the reason  the site was de-indexed was because they had been buying back links, which is legal, but as far as Google are concerned is taboo. Anyway Ryan Abood and his site GourmetGiftBaskets.com lost $2 Million dollars in revenue in 2008 and another $2 Million in 2009. Suffice to say the company was suffering and struggling but Ryan took the only action he knew which was to bounce back. They went into the social network niches FaceBook and Twitter and many more social network portals all new areas that they had not considered before the results and the company has turned around most of the losses they are back in the top three in their niche. Ryan Abood has this to say about the recovery quote :- Without the Google penalty, we wouldn’t be anywhere near as far along as we are. You have two choices: You can roll over and die, or you can grow beyond it.

‘Well done to Ryan and to GourmetGiftBaskets.com!’
