Apple to Unveil a New Version of iTunes

Good news for Apple buffs: It was announced on Wednesday that a new version of iTunes is going to be released. The iTunes 10 would be a major upgrade to the musical jukebox and media management software library.

iTunes Apple also mixed a little bit of social networking in the package this time. The new social networking service is known as “Ping” – targeted at aiding users in discovering new music. Steve Jobs said in a press conference that “Ping” more like a Facebook + Twitter-ish experience for old timers.

But chances are that Ping will be likeable because of its full duplex mode of communication. Artists can log on to the iTunes 10 page and through Ping, they can have a little chit chat with their fans. You’ll also be able to create a “circle of friends” – those specifically interested in sharing and listening the music of your choice.

Ping is also going to be available on the iPod Touch, iPhone and the iPad. For Apple, iTunes 10 is a big change after so many years. The user interface has been given a hybrid look, with new modes of reorganized applications and album art in music columns.
