Bing is now up for grabs for all users of Motorola Droid X, Droid 2, Droid Incredible because Microsoft just made it available. You can download the Bing add-on through Verizon’s Wireless Marketplace on Android phones.
The reason for Microsoft’s release of Bing Mobile Android App was the growing number of demands for Bing. Plus, apart from the popularity campaign, anything which cuts down a rival company (Apple) to a few notches is worth an effort.
Though Bing and Apple aren’t exactly rivals, but from a long term perspective, companies often delve into strategies that generate results after a couple of years. The Bing for Mobile Android has quick access based maps to offer, alongside a list of local business, restaurants and movie listings.
A spokesman from Bing said that Android users can also search through voice access panels. “We have offered the Mic option, to let those users give voice to their search. Plus, Microsoft invested $500 million to bring Bing to Verizon world and those voice based technologies were a result of a lot of effort” – said the spokesman.
Microsoft is expected to go pro with a number of new packages for the future. There will be tons of applications for the Android market, so stay tuned. As for Apple… well, Uncle Steve has our sympathies for now.
