Apple still dominating Apps market
Despite the attempts by RIM (BlackBerry) and Palm to challenge Apple in the Apps business, it appears Apple’s iPhone app market is continuing to be the dominant force with close to %99 of the Apps market share. The iPhone has over 150,000 apps and Apple claims its receives around 10,000 app applications onĀ a weekly basis.
Apple will expect to double the number of apps by the end of the year while the closest competitor is Google’s Android Market which has around 20,000 apps and counting. The fact is Apple dominates the market of Apps due to the iPhone’s popularity and high use amongst those who seek smartphones and similar devices. With the smartphone market expected to grow and keep growing at a high-rate the Android has room to carve out a niche for Google to exploit and take advantage of.
