Mircosoft: Looking to buy RIM or Nokia?

With Microsoft’s share in the smartphone market falling from 13.9% in 2008 to a disappointing 8.8% last year, there have been intense rumours about the company potentially buying one of the main players in the smartphone market such as Nokia or RIM. There were reports Microsoft might even bid for Palm Inc but the smartphone manufacturer is small in comparison with Nokia and RIM.

RIM produces the popular BlackBerry phones which are popular worldwide. Apple Inc has become a force to be reckoned with in the smartphone devices market with the extremely popular iPhone helping the company take 15.1 percent of the market up from 9.6 percent in 2008.
